Is home swapping being done in the Philippines?

June 24, 2009 - Posted in cebu vacation

You probably saw the movie, or know of this activity of home swapping being done in Europe and the US.

Do you think this can be done or is it already being done in the Philippines?

If it is not yet being done, how can it be done.

Like I want to vacation for a week in Cebu so my place in Manila can be free for that time, so maybe someone in Cebu can swap with my place…HCpackedHotelDealsBanner468x60 Is home swapping being done in the Philippines?
hey Donnabel, thanks for the invite. I want to go to Cebu though not at the moment. Been there last December though.

If at all it is being done, it's a private arrangement between friends or colleagues.

  3. There are too many questions, like security, privacy, etc… Maturity level in the Philippines is not that developed yet so it can cause problems later on.

Probably among the wealthy or upper middle class it can be possible but for the general public? I don't think so. Before you know it, an "akyat-bahay" gang would take advantage of this scheme.

  6. home swapping here in the Philippines is maybe impossible, because many of our Filipino neighbor are poor squatters.

if you swap your home, the next day you come home, you'll find your things missing, and maybe even your dog. :)

  7. Am into a private home-share agreement with a friend. Her family can use my Baguio house whenever we aren't there, and I can use her Terrazas de Punta Fuego beach house anytime they are not there.

  9. home swapping in the philippines or in any other places in the world between families (friends or strangers) is very hard to do. it only happens in reality tv show but can never be done in real setting so to speak. why? there r a number of concerns that wud prevent it from happening. one is security, then ur privacy, etc. it can only be done in reality tv show because u dont really worry about ur house being occupied by strangers u never know n ur entire life because certain measures are being observed by the tv crew or the production crew. so u dont worry about a time bomb being planted somewhere or a bunker dug under ur house or the swappers’ children make fun of ur torn n dirty undergarments which u forgot to pack up. so that’s it. ur house is not really totally given up to swappers’ charge. the tv production crew actually takes the responsibility of ur house n see to it that no vandalism (if there’s any) remain undone.
