How early do I have to be at Manila’s airport before my flight if I’m heading to the USA?
June 14, 2010 - Posted in manila vacation
I’m from the United States, and I’ve been on vacation here in the Philippines for a about a month. My flight is in two days. I’ve been hearing stories of numerous countries with passengers who have to be at the airport for more than the usual two hours prior. One even had a six hour requirement. I’m not sure about Manila, but I’m aiming at 3 to 4 hours before just in case. If any of you have any good tips, that would be great!

It depends on the season. During peak seasons( holidays) try to be there 4 hours before.
In your case, 3 hours should be enough.
Traffic is usually congested in the Metro Manila region.

You’ll only need the 2 hours prior to departure when leaving Ninoy Aquino International Airport. As you’ve been in the Philippines for a while already, you’re well aware of Manila’s horrendous traffic. Give yourself plenty of time to get to the airport as this may be the most time consuming part of your departure depending on what part of the city your starting from.
Having said all that…….there’s nothing to do at the airport. Bring a good book!

When I travelled to Canada, I waited the standard two hours without a hitch. Do note though that the flight was to Hong Kong, with the connecting trip leading to Canada. With that said, I don’t think you’ll have any problems with 2-3 hours prior, but if you’re really worried, I suppose you could just give the airline a call.

BE in the airport at least 2 hours before your flight. BUT it is the traffic that you would consider going to airport especially if you’ll be coming from far away place, so allow additional time for that
